Live 3D gesture control system for the show hosts to use every day for a year. To be built so the TV crew can use it without external assistance.
Answer
A kinect camera tracks the hosts hand gesture and allows rotating a high-resolution earth globe to a specific destination at which the Studio feed coming from the control room squeezes in in time. There were 2 pcs involved in the system, one with the Unity game engine, and the other one with Touch Designer. We also built a custom interface where each morning the TV crew would enter the Google map coordinates of the destination they needed that day. The 3D earth would automatically rotate towards this specific point when pulled by the host's arm movement.
